Snow Summit / Big Bear
USASA competition → professional snowboarding · Two years building terrain parks
JOSHABOUT JOSH
JOSH CHAUVET / RENO, NEVADAFrom professional snowboarding to resort leadership, agency ownership and hands-on product development, I’ve always been drawn to making things work better.
My career started at Snow Summit. I grew up competing in USASA snowboarding events and turned that experience into a professional snowboarding career while living in Big Bear. Wanting better jumps and a stronger terrain park, I began operating snowcats in the evenings and helping build the park.
After two years at Snow Summit, I was recruited to create a terrain park program at Snow Valley. I spent the next couple of years developing the program and learning how marketing could bring the mountain experience to a wider audience.
That work led to Mammoth Mountain—a major step up in scale and opportunity. I gradually stepped back from professional competition to focus on building the terrain park and action sports program, later expanding into brand and guest experience work. That foundation still shapes how I approach a business: understand the people, learn the operation and connect the details.
As a co-owner of Snow Park Technologies, I worked across resort consulting, global events, partnerships and product development. At MRD Creative Agency, I applied that same perspective to brands, digital experiences and commerce.
I also built Reno Repairs from the ground up, developing the marketing that brings in customers, the operation behind the service and a custom app used by the team. It is a practical foundation for the work I now do through Minus One.
Today, that experience comes together in Minus One, where I focus on simpler operations, connected systems and practical AI, and Sunset Motor Co., the next chapter of my electric motorcycle work at Electric Cycle Works.
Whether I’m working on an operational dashboard, a customer experience or a physical product, the goal is the same: turn a good idea into something useful.
Start a conversation ↗WHERE IT STARTED
I grew up at Catalina Island Marine Institute, surrounded by the ocean and the rugged interior of Catalina Island. My childhood was spent exploring—mountain biking, hiking, playing in the water and discovering parts of the island most people never get to experience. That freedom sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors.
In seventh grade, we moved to Lake Arrowhead, California, where I discovered snowboarding. What began as a passion became the start of my professional career.
Cycling has been a constant throughout my life—and remains my biggest passion and physical outlet. After years of mountain biking, I took up road cycling when I moved to San Francisco, and more recently added gravel riding. I still compete occasionally, but riding is also how I explore, challenge myself and stay connected to the outdoors.
